🗺 Detailed map of the Global Reef Expedition dive sites, Jewell, Hilder, and Eyrie Reefs, northern Great Barrier Reef (Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation; opens in a new window)
Global Reef Expedition station AUPK60 on Jewell Reef, northern Great Barrier Reef (-14.4318, 145.3499), surveyed on 12 September 2014. The expedition's own site table classifies AUPK60 as an outer barrier reef on an exposed aspect.
Alongside the hard coral already reported for this site, the same transects recorded 22% crustose coralline algae and 13% turf. Non-living substrate came to 9.0% dead coral, 1.0% rubble, and 10% sand. These figures come from the expedition's own 933-site benthic master and are survey results, not photographic estimates.
Paired fish transects recorded about 26 fish species per transect and about 13 kg per 100 m2 of biomass.
